To know Eagle is to know the Nez Perce. And to know the Nez Perce is to know their stories.

Stories and language are the lifeblood of the Nez Perce. Its how they express their values, how they pass down lessons to their children, and how they give important meaning to the people, places and things in their lives. Working with the Nez Perce on Eagle’s development meant listening to and understanding these important stories because it created the groundwork for who Eagle is as a real character. The way Eagle looks and moves - from his traditional costume, his markings, his weapons, his hair and even the music and language - are imbued with value and meaning stemming from stories hundreds of years old.

We hope you enjoy these stories, lovingly brought to life from our talented team here at Microsoft Studios. Special thanks to Josiah Pinkhan, Thomas “Tatlo” Gregory, Anthony Smith and their families for sharing their knowledge and incredible story-telling skills. Thank you to the Nez Perce National Historical Park for allowing our team access to incredible artifacts.
